<p>If you’ve got a website you’ve probably seen some of these annoying messages pop up in your inbox or comment section. Seeing them may persuade you to think of search engine optimisation as nothing more than spam from snake oil merchants.</p>
<p>However, good SEO is an important part of any marketing strategy. Just having a fancy website isn’t enough to bring in new customers or clients. You need to get them to go to your website in order to convince them that your products or services are what they need.</p>
<p>So what should you be looking for when looking at SEO? Well the first thing to understand is that there is no golden bullet which will see your site suddenly come top of Google. Good SEO looks at a number of elements that can help increase the traffic to your site.</p>
<p>Your website needs to have a good structure. This means that visitors must be able to navigate their way around your site to find the information they need easily. It also means that search engines can crawl your site easily too, indexing the site for the search engine.</p>
<p>You’ll also need good content. But what is good content? Good content is full of useful information, which is updated regularly. In terms of SEO the content should be written to contain the phrases that people are likely to search for in relation to your products or services. However, there is a balance to be struck between over stuffing your content with keywords, and not including enough of them for the search engines to pick up on.</p>
<p>You’ll also need to link to your site from other places. This sounds easy enough, but not all links are equal. You can spend an awful lot of time and money building links into your site, but if the links are low quality, then you’ll probably have wasted most of that time and money. The search engines are picky about what constitutes a good link. Basically a link from a high value site is worth a lot more in terms of page rank than a hundred low value links.</p>
<p>So, if someone offers you SEO without taking an holistic view of your digital marketing the likelihood is that they are selling you snake oil.</p>

<p><strong>Brief: </strong>To redesign the public area of <a href="http://www.bsga.co.uk">www.bsga.co.uk</a> so it was easy to navigate. The site was developed so that the most important areas of the site we immediately accessible to visitors, including member news, the locate a signmaker search facility, and the members area. The product finder was updated so that suppliers to sign makers could have their products found quickly and easily, and a training resource has been created so that members can publicise any training the offer.</p>
<p>The site also has space so that advertising opportunities can be offered, allowing the site generate income for the association. Also included are a  jobs manager allowing members to advertise employment opportunities and an events manager.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-60" title="Gardenworldclear" src="http://findingstuffout.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/gardenworldclear.png?w=388" alt=""   />GardenWorld is the new consumer facing website from Vitax Ltd. The aim of the site is provide visitors with interesting stories and features and an easy to use product finder.</p>
<p>We created a bright design with plenty of areas that would attract visitors, such as a Garden Diary (a monthly guide of things to do in the garden), a Kitchen Diary which gives advice on growing your own vegetables, fruit and salad crops, a section dedicated to dealing with garden pests and a Lawn Care section detailing how to get the best from your lawn.</p>
<p>We built the site using a bespoke WordPress CMS, which allows the website to link up relevant product information with articles and features.</p>
<p>Trinity provides continuous support in keeping the site up to date, writing articles and social media (all vital to the search engine optimisation).</p>
